Roll-up Summary Fields in Salesforce.com: Revisited

As I mentioned in a previous post, Salesforce.com recently promoted one of my ideas on the IdeaExchange - Roll-Up Summary Fields for Standard Objects. While I'm happy to see that they truly listen to user feedback and have chosen to incorporate one of my ideas in their Winter 08 release, it's worth pointing out that it's only a partial victory. The additional functionality they intend to release only accommodates a fraction of the standard objects and relationships available in Salesforce.com.

Clearly, the level of effort and complexity associated with fully satisfying this feature request must be significant. I completely understand their decision to take a half-step toward the finish line. But that won't stop me from driving the point home (call me Captain Persistence). So, what does a persistent Salesforce.com evangelist do? You guessed it: I've posted a new idea on the IdeaExchange. What's this one called? Wait for it...

Roll-up Summary Fields for (more) Standard Objects and Relationships

If you're at all interested in participating in the process of agile, user centered design then I respectfully request that you review my idea and, if you're so inclined, promote it. Who knows? Perhaps the Spring 08 release will be the full realization of this feature.
